Get excited … we have a new uniform!

While our existing uniform is widely accepted by our little girls, we are about to commence our 5th year and many of our original littlies are now maturing young ladies. It’s time to transition from cute to gorgeous.
Our Uniform Coordinator, Jo Power, has had the hair pulling experience of sourcing, communicating, negotiating and then reporting on the progression of getting a new uniform. There are only 2 clubs in ERNA wearing purple uniforms and Jo’s brief was to make us easily discernible from the other club, canvas our 15/cadets for their opinions and settle on a supplier that she felt we could build a lasting relationship with.
After a few hundred emails, Jo proposed that we use Cooper Teamwear which lead to Jo and I visiting them in September to discuss colour and style options. We discovered a lolly shop! We also discovered that Jenny and Jane are customer focused and very, very helpful. Their willingness to provide us with such a high level of service sold us on choosing them as our supplier. It was obvious to us from the beginning that Cooper’s weren’t just chasing our business but that they were all about making sure we got what we wanted. We’re women … you can imagine how challenging that became! Cooper’s changed designs/colours while we were there and after Jo presented 3 versions to the Committee, Cooper’s got the opportunity to send us more versions … and then … just a few more versions! I told you it was challenging …
So … we are very grateful that Jo has delivered this project to such a successful conclusion because choosing a uniform is exactly like trying to select one lolly form 1,000 favourites! Jo is grateful to still have all of her hair.
While the great news is that we have a new uniform, the not-so-good news is that it will be phased in over 2 years. Why? Because it costs money, Honey and uniforms are not the most important issue that our club faces for 2013 and beyond.
The committee decided to put as many of our Meadowbank Park teams into the new uniform as we could which means that the first teams to get the new uniform will be our 13’s, 14’s, Cadets and Seniors. To supply all our Meadowbank Teams (11’s and 12’s) would cost another $2-3,000. We haven’t factored in our Brush Farm babes yet.
So … if your child is turning 11/12 next year, please look out for an email from me (check your Junk Mail) regarding uniform sizing and if we feel we can afford to also change these 4 teams over, we will. That information needs to be provided to Jo by Wednesday of this week.
There are other things that a growing club needs to spend money on too (umpiring mentoring/payments, coaching courses, etc) however, we will do our best to change all our MP teams over … even if it means mid-season for some teams.
Some of our older members (Sharron, Sandy, Josh, Christy, Chantelle, Pei … to name a few) have put their hand up to sell chocolates early next year to help fund the changeover. If you feel that you could also sell one box late Feb/Mar, please email me: President@carlingfordcomets.com.au
There is a $60 Coles/Myer Voucher that we get for ordering chocolates early. The Committee decided that selling one box means your name will go into a draw to win the voucher. Sell 2 boxes = 2 entries, etc. No pressure folks, but if you can sell them at work … let me know. Even if we end up with more $’s than we need, some of you will benefit from courses, accreditations, etc and our focus for 2013 is to lift standards from our 7’s to our Seniors. More on that later. I’m old now and I can only do 3 things at a time … work, uniforms and remembering what I’m supposed to be doing for the first two.
Anyway … when our girls feedback with “Oh!!! I really like it” and “It will make us look more professional”, then you know that we’re on the right track. I’ve seen the uniform on and it really does look great.
Thanks again Jo … I know how much you given to the club with this project alone. Your blood’s worth bottling … let’s start, eh??? Xo
So …. Drum roll please ….
Allow me to present our sensational new uniform ….
