Week 14- 9 Wallabies report

posted August 4, 2012 by Elaine - viewed 310 times

This week we played North Ryde RSL. We played this team in our 1st week (scoring 1-2), and it was amazing to see the improvement of our players over the season.

In our first quarter, we saw some slippery catches as the girls worked their way around the court. Mikayla scored our first goal.

By the 2nd quarter, the girls knew what they were up against and tried even harder to work on our defensive circle, with good passes from Marie and Mikayla towards our goal circle. Sanya and Abbey did well to intercept the ball from our opponents. April was impressive against her taller opponents, and zipped around them in her defence positions. The score was 3-9 at the end of the 2nd quarter.

For the 3rd quarter, our defence consisted of Abbey, Sanya and April who worked together to stop any goals from the opposition. We scored 3 goals and brought our score up to 6-9.

Towards the last quarter of the game, the girls knew they were behind by 3. It was the shoulder passing that helped them channel the ball down to our goal, with Carla and Jaz taking turns to shoot.

We could see the girls putting in lots of effort and they worked well under the pressure. With a final score of 10-15, it was a well matched game which the girls enjoyed.

Thank you to April and Sanya for filling in this week. We enjoyed having both of you.
