Week 13 - 10/1's

Today the Comets played St Kevin’s (currently 3rd in our division) in a close battle! The
final score of 15/10 to St Kevin’s does not do justice to the game today. The Comets were switched on from the first whistle and fought for the ball with numerous intercepts in the first quarter. Alanah, Mandy and Kathryn played strongly in defence and at the end of Q1 it was 1/1.
Skye and Tanisha combined beautifully in the goal circle and the passing in to them was much
better this week. Q2 was our strongest with Comets leading 4/2 at half time. Our passing was much better this week after lots of work at training on balancing and NOT playing hot potato with the ball.
Unfortunately a few umpiring calls started to go St Kevin’s way in Q3 and before we knew it they had gained momentum and scored 8 goals to our 2. We battled hard in the last quarter and
St Kevin’s scored 5 goals to our 4.
Pam and I were really proud to see such great fighting spirit and good sportsmanship from the Comets today. Tarsha, Genevieve and Jyothi all played well in attack today! Special mention goes to our super shooters today -Skye (7 goals), Elicia (1) and Tanisha (2).
Alanah was chosen as MVP this week with some outstanding play in GD in the first half and then Centre. Genevieve received our McDonalds award for a good game in WD and WA.
Many thanks to Sharon Ross for scoring again this week! Training is on this Thursday 5-6pm. Please let me know if you are unable to make it to training or the game.
Next week we play OLQP on Court 1. Elicia will be our Captain!
