Week 12 - 11/3's

posted July 22, 2012 by Debbie Frankenberg - viewed 309 times

Last week’s bye certainly didn’t do us any favours .  We started well and looked competitive in the first 10 minutes but we couldn’t seem to get our little feet to move us in front of the opposition.  None of that stopped us having fun and although the score was 21-10 WRR way there was some spectacular netball.  Our opposition commented how much the girls have improved over the competition and I agree unreservedly.  These girls are nothing like the girls who played in Round 1.  Our footwork is excellent and passing, creating space and intercepts are always improving.

With Elise and Manager Mum Jennie MIA at dance recital and coach Georgia at band camp that left me and Sandi in charge.  What an awesome team (Sandi and me that is!)  The girls were pretty awesome too and improved each quarter.  I am always happy with that.  Nitasha, Phoebe and Anne worked well in circle defence proving that no matter whatever the combination, they were a cohesive unit getting tips and turnovers.  Christina, Kate and Amba never stopped trying to get goals for us.  Caitlin and Kaitlin worked tirelessly in attack.  This team has built a lot of trust in themselves and each other and it showed.

MVP was awarded to Kaitlin S whose “bombs” into the goal third were as thrilling as her zippy moves!  Two more games and two more opportunities to make finals … YES … it still looks to be achievable!  So, let’s finish on a high and since Georgia is back this Saturday no reason why you can't win!

Thanks to Giulia and the 12’s who included Christina in their team at Cure our Kids.  Christina had a terrific time and the harder games saw her improve her game and confidence.   Neither the chilling wind nor rain dampened her enthusiasm.  Loved it!
