Week 6 - 10/1's

posted May 19, 2012 by Susan Brownlow - viewed 349 times

The 10/1’s took on St Kevin’s this week on a beautiful sunny morning at Brush Farm. Unfortunately our shooting this week did not allow us to keep up with the amazingly accurate shooting by St Kevin’s.

In the first quarter Tanisha scored 1 goal /St Kevin’s 3.

The girls tried hard to push into spaces and worked on keeping a tighter defence. Kathryn had a solid game in defence as GK and GD and despite being pulled up for obstruction a number of times and taking a ball in the face she toughed it out and kept fighting to get the ball back for the Comets. This earned her the team McDonald’s award for this week. Our MVP award this week went to Tarsha for a solid full game this week as WA and C and even trying her hand at GS.

In the second quarter Elicia scored 2 goals /St Kevin’s 4.

Genevieve and Jyothi did some lovely intercepts this week and Alanah, Mandy and Skye moved well, providing good strong passes down to our shooters.

The 3 rd quarter saw our girls keep fighting to get the ball and intercept, however this was not our best quarter with the opposition scoring 5 goals and us none! Too many weak passes back to the St Kevin’s players and Comets seemed to get distracted this quarter.

In the last quarter Skye scored 1 goal /St Kevin’s 5. On a positive note, our throw- ins and footwork were much better than last week. Please practice shooting girls!!!!

The final score was St Kevin’s 17 /Comets 4.

Next week we play OLQP Gladesville on Court 1 and Kathryn will be our Captain and can br ing fruit or a treat for after the game.
