Week 6 – 9 Wallabies -v- West Ryde Rovers

posted May 18, 2012 by Colette Grundy - viewed 368 times

A cracking start for our 9’s this week saw them streak into the lead in the first quarter with all players blazing a trail from one end to the other including outstanding attack and breaking plays by Jaz and Abbey in the goal circle and scoring some well earned points.

A slight loss of momentum after last week’s bye saw our defensive skills lagging behind in the second and third quarters. This became critical as our mid court play was a bit messy due to a loss of concentration, which gave the Rovers some easy goals.

Once the girls became focused again though, the magic was beautiful to watch in the last quarter with a huge team effort. Fantastic rebounds by Kimberley and Mikayla together with excellent intercepts from Bec, Marie and Alicia mid court really turned the game back to our advantage.

Carla was a very deserving player of the week in chasing down the loose balls and making some crucial intercepts which gave our shooters many extra attempts to score.

Well done girls!!
