Week 5 - 10/1's

This week the 10/1’s
played a strong West Ryde Rovers team who gave our Comets a run for their
money! From the 1
st Quarter they came out strong and scored 8 goals,
keeping us scoreless. The Rovers shooters were tall and very accurate and
although our defenders tried hard to intercept and catch the rebounds, they did
not miss many goals.
The 2
nd
Quarter was our strongest today and Elicia and Tanisha both scored a goal, the
Rovers only scored 3 goals this quarter with some much better defending and stronger
passing by our girls.
The 3
rd
quarter saw our girls keep fighting to get the ball and intercept, with some great
movement by Genevieve, Jyothi and Mandy in GK,GD and WD. Skye scored 1 goal and
Elicia 2/ Rovers 6 for the quarter. Our Centre passes are improving and Alanah
did some lovely setting up on the goal circle to help out our shooters and
defenders. Unfortunately today we had the odd toe on the line for throw- ins
and too many held balls. We will be working on this at training and continuing
with our fitness training.
Tanisha scored 1 more
goal for Comets in the last quarter with the final score 23/6 to Rovers. Pam
and I were really proud of the girls today for keeping their fighting spirit up
and never giving up! Well done everyone. Remember our club motto is T.E.A.M
(Together Everyone Achieves Magic!) and we will keep improving every week!
Our Captain today was
Genevieve. Tanisha was awarded our McDonald’s Sports Award for 3 strong
quarters as GA and moving into spaces nicely. Skye was awarded the MVP Award
(Most Valuable Player) by the other team, playing a full game today as WA, GS
and C.
Next week we play St
Kevin’s on Court 1 and Tanisha will be our Captain and can bring fr
uit or a
treat for after the game.
