Welcome
to the first game of the season 10/1’s!
Firstly
I would like to congratulate everyone for being so punctual this morning.
Parking was easy this week but only because the grass courts were not in use,
so it will get worse!
All
the girls were eager to play today after such a long break and took a little
time to settle into the game. We played St Gerards today and the girls had some
friends in the opposition and seemed quite happy to pass the ball to them many
times throughout the game. Perhaps it was the similar colour uniform but the
girls did rush their passes at times, and we need to remember to pass and run into
the open spaces.
The
Comets worked tirelessly to intercept and defend their players and did a super
job throughout the game.
A lot more
shooting practice and circle work should see a much more even score next time
we meet this team.
Skye
was our Captain today, and also did a great job to shoot 4 goals. Skye was
awarded our McDonald’s Sports Award for 2 strong quarters as GA and 1 as
Centre. Alanah was awarded the MVP Award (Most Valuable Player) by the other
team. Alanah played a great game at Centre, WA and GK.
Tanisha
and Jyothi shot 1 goal each to give us 6 goals to St Gerards 14. Tarsha had a
strong game at WA and C today and never seems to get tired. Kathryn and Elicia
worked well together in defense and Mandy and Genevieve were zipping around the
court and sticking to their players really well.
A
really good effort for our first game and it gives us plenty to practice at training.
Next
week we have a BYE so you can all sleep in!
The
following week (Saturday 5
th
May!) we play Carlingford Flames on
Court 1. Elicia will be Captain and c
an bring fruit or a treat for after the
game.
