Practice this week

posted April 15, 2012 by Debbie Frankenberg - viewed 498 times

Hi everyone

Every team should be back at practice this week and games resume this Saturday.  If you are confused about game times, etc, please speak with your coach/manager.

Our 8's, 9's 10/3's and 10/1's play their first game of the season and for many it's their first day of competition ever!  All that excitement cannot go unmentioned so, to all our newest Comets, have fun and let's keep those fast feet still when you catch the ball.  Good luck to our new coaches too.

I'm looking forward to seeing the reports from all our teams this week (2).  It doesn't need to be an epic so don't worry if you don't really know what to say.  A couple of paragraphs about who we played and what we learned ... and what we plan to learn is fine.  Share the love and introduce the girls (first names only).  The competition at Brush Farm is meant to be fun with the emphasis on learning to catch, pivot, throw and run to an open space.

Mums and Dads please don't be alarmed if your child rotates through 4 positions in a game because at Brush Farm the more the girls move around the court, the quicker their basic skills will develop.  Winning is not the aim of the game at Brush Farm.

Catch, pivot, throw and run to an open space ... that's what's important at this age and that's one of the reasons it's good for the girls to be separated from the full on competition at Meadowbank Park.

Remember ... arrive half an hour before game time and allow for limited parking and Parking Rangers.

Have fun everyone and see you all soon

Debbie
