UDP 2020
Each year Comets has many keen umpires learn to become umpires by doing
the Umpire Development Program (UDP). This involves completing two on-line
courses, attending a two-hour lecture/demonstration on umpiring, followed by
five weeks of assisted umpiring with a mentor. This takes place on Saturdays,
in the early part of the season of competition. After that you are able to
umpire games on Saturdays (and get paid!).
We are now looking for our next group of budding umpires to do the
program in 2020. Players (turning 13 or older in 2020), mums and dads, and
siblings can all become umpires.
Before you can enrol in the UDP you must know the rules, by reading the
rule book, and passing an online theory exam (Rules of Netball exam). The
required pass rate is 70%. You also need to complete an on-line course about
being an official (Umpire Foundation course). I will send you details of these
once you have registered.
